Yay, you're a college senior!

Now it's time for photos...

That's where I come in!

This blog post has everything from locations, outfits, and other fun ideas for you and your friends so that your senior session is the best.

First let's pick some locations!

This will be the backdrop of your photos so you want to pick something that is special to you but also recognizable. Below are some ideas that I love in Blacksburg

Burruss Hall (duh)

This is a basic but gorgeous choice. You pretty much have to take photos here if you are graduating from Tech. Although it is a busy area if you wait your turn and are patient then these photos are always iconic. I also almost always go to the side of Burruss to get a further view with less people, below is an example of that.

Football practice field (also duh)

This is another iconic photo spot. With the classic Hokie sign behind you, this is the perfect spot for a big group photo with your friends. This location is perfect for more candid, less posed photos. This is also the spot to do the classic champagne pop photos that look super cute. Below are some examples.

The Pylons

The Pylons are a very important part of Virginia Tech, so taking photos here is almost inevitable. This is a great place for a good view of the Drillfield, Torg Bridge, and even Burruss. Sunset or sunrise at the Pylons is absolutely beautiful, below are some examples.

Sentimental Buildings

Taking photos at a building that means a lot to you can be such a great backdrop, and almost every building at Tech is gorgeous. Photos in front of these buildings are photos that will be more personal to you which is super important. Whether it is your first dorm, your major building, the lab you worked at, or where you met your friends or significant other, these photos are always a hit. Some ideas are down below.

Some fun ideas that make your photos stand out:

Below are some ideas to elevate your photos and make them a little more fun!

  1. Champagne Pop
  2. Confetti
  3. Friend Group
  4. Significant Other
  5. Fun Shoes (school colors)

Lastly, let's choose outfits

For college photos I recommend wearing what you plan on wearing for graduation. Whether that is a white dress for girls or khaki's and a basic shirt for boys basic is always better for photos in front of such grand buildings and backdrops. Also, if you are taking photos with other people make sure you go over outfits before your session so that there aren't any clashing outfits. All photos above are great examples of what to wear, I also have a style guide that I have written previously below.
